The show starts at sunset
Teide National Park is visited by millions of people every year. Tourists and local residents enjoy this special place, which some define as magical. The natural configuration of the central part of the island is one of the most beautiful settings in the world.
Volcanic cones, lava flows that seem to have flowed out of the volcano hours ago, multiple chromatic tones, high mountain flora. Nature in all its splendour. And on top of it all, at sunset Las Cañadas del Teide are transformed. As the Sun drops over the western horizon, the special dying afternoon light gradually changes the landscape, inundating it with red and orange tones that are in perfect synchronisation with the volcanic terrain.
As a way to share this celestial spectacle, Teide Cable Car, through Volcano Life Experience, has come up with a service that will allow you to see the lesser known face of the park. Sunset and stars.
Teide and its surroundings are transformed when the sun sets. As the sun drops, Teide's enormous shadow stretches out toward the East, creating a spectacular projection. This Volcano Life Experience offers our visitors the opportunity to enjoy this nocturnal experience in an ideal environment. The activity begins at the privileged vantage point of one of the Teide National Park's lookouts from where you will watch the sunset while enjoying a lovely glass of champagne. On clear days the spectacular backdrop will include views of La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro. An amazing show of lights and shadows seen from the tallest mountain in Spain. As the light fades you will be taken back to the Cable Car's lower station where you will be treated to a dinner of characteristic Canarian gastronomy.
The cocktail dinner will start with almogrote, an artisanal sauce made with very hard cheese, paprika, mashed gofio and a sampler of Canarian cheeses. A multitude of hot and cold dishes follow, such as pata asada, cream of millo (the Canarian word for corn), carne fiesta skewers and of course our famous papas arrugadas with red and green mojos. All of which will be accompanied by white and red wines with a La Orotava Designation of Origin, the municipality where the Cable Car is located.
After dinner another show begins. When night falls the national park is lit up by stars and visitors can observe a surprisingly sharp and clear celestial sphere, as the sky above Tenerife is considered to be one of the clearest and most transparent in the world, along with Hawaii and Atacama. The final treat provided by this activity will be provided by astronomy, as you will be able to enjoy an interpretation of the starry sky, observing the constellations visible that night and learning the different myths that are tied to them. Finally you will be able to use our telescopes to observe with your own eyes, the Moon, planets, galaxies, etc.
A unique experience that will introduce you to the lesser known side of Teide.
