Description

Get to know the oenological history of the island with a visit to the Casa del Vino de Tenerife that will be sure to leave you speechless. All great explorers know that some of the best secrets of a region lie in its gastronomy. La Casa del Vino, a hacienda from the 17th century, will show you everything you need to know to become an expert in what makes this island’s gastronomy unique.

Entry to the Tenerife wine museum

What makes this visit of interest? You will learn about Tenerife’s winemaking history, unlike no others in the Canary Islands. How far does it date back? Why is it so special? Find out everything there is to know by visiting the museum. The members of staff will guide you through the history of Tenerife’s wines to the present day. That is not all, you can also watch the “History and Evolution of Wines of Tenerife”, a documentary, either 7 or 18 minutes long, for groups of maximum 50 people (your choice!).

What’s included in your entry ticket

The entry fee includes visiting the different rooms of the Casa del Vino de Tenerife as well as the patios, terraces, vineyards and indigenous plant gardens, while appreciating traditional Canarian architecture and unbeatable views of Mount Teide, the Orotava Valley and north coast of the island.

You can also take self-guided visits around the permanent exhibitions “Tenerife, an Island of Agrodiversity” and “The Men from the San Simón Hacienda”, and around the visitor’s centre of the honey museum Museo de la Miel de Tenerife.

Note: the vineyard of the Casa del Vino grows all the varieties of grape from Tenerife. If you want to know more about them, scan the QR codes to access more detailed information. Can you think of a more visual and interactive way of learning absolutely everything about Tenerife’s wine?

Tasting of 3 types of wine

Designation of origin. Local. From the island. If you want to try the wines from Tenerife, the Casa del Vino has 12 types, of which you will be offered to taste three. Enjoy its aroma: red, white and rosé. What’s your favourite? The wines are renewed every 15 days, so you will be able to try them all to become an expert in Tenerife’s viniculture. In addition to the wine tasting, how about having some local semi-cured cheese and toasted bread to accompany the wine?

Visit the shop and take with you the best of local gastronomy

As well as wine, Tenerife has other great local products such as honey, ‘mojo’ sauces, liquors, jams and marmalades, traditional cakes, and craft products. If you want to take a souvenir back to remember your visit to the Casa del Vino de Tenerife, don’t miss visiting the shop.

Don’t forget to visit the wine cellar! Over 300 of Tenerife’s wines are waiting for you!
