Description

Visit Tenerife’s Cueva del Viento, in Icod de los Vinos, and discover the subterranean world that lies near one of the planet’s most important volcanic sites. The Cueva del Viento is the longest volcanic tube in Europe, and the longest in the world—apart from the volcanic galleries of Hawaii. If caving and volcanoes interest you, and you have the spirit of adventure, welcome!

Guided underground tour of the Cueva del Viento

Did you know that much of this intricate network of labyrinths, galleries and geographical accidents caused by the flow of lava remains unexplored? Nooks and crannies which Man has yet to discover. Unique animal species that have never seen the light of day (have you ever heard of the cockroach with no eyes?). In a nutshell: a host of volcanic curiosities, and all explained in detail by an experienced guide.

An exploration of the origins of the Cueva del Viento

Twenty-seven thousand years ago, the Pico Viejo volcano, located next to Mount Teide, erupted for the first time. The streams of lava created subterranean chambers, and two new levels of chambers were created by subsequent eruptions. The result? Three levels of labyrinths, chasms, lateral terraces and volcanic tunnels through which the wind blows at high speed—hence the name of this cavers’ paradise: the Wind Cave. It is the only place in the world where these phenomena are to be found on three different levels. And you can tour them accompanied by a guide. You really can’t afford to miss it!

An unforgettable experience with great professionals

We have been in great company, our guide Cristian told us about the history of the island while our driver, Sebastian, took us to the most wonderful places. They are both great professionals and we are very grateful for all the knowledge and treatment we have received. Congratulations!

Amazing way to end a day from the top of a volcano

Seeing the sunset in a place near to the Teide's peak is one of the most amazing experiences you can live here. We had good luck because the visibility was incredible, so we saw more islands from the top, like La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro. Im from Tenerife, this was the second time I booked for this experience. And I would do it again, and again. 100% recommended.
