Description
A Mount Teide Tour with cable car that has everything you need
On this organised Mount Teide Tour with cable car (optional) return tickets with a digital audio guide of the trails, you’ll discover Teide National Park: the most visited national park in Europe. You’ll also be visiting the park in a sustainable way.
From the comfort of our bus and accompanied by an official guide, you will discover scenery that will leave you wide-eyed with wonder as you ascend towards the peak. Because Tenerife is an enormous mountain in the middle of the ocean. Its roads climb to reach the heart of the island: Mount Teide. Along the way, you will pass through different bioclimatic levels.
As you leave the coast, made barren by endless sunshine, the proximity of the sea and the lack of rain, you will enter the mid-altitude zone. This contains the finest agricultural land, chosen by the European settlers as the site for Tenerife’s historic towns. A series of towns is strung like a necklace at a mid altitude of between 400 and 500 metres above sea level: Arona, La Orotava, Santiago del Teide… All still conserve a historical legacy worth discovering.
If your Teide excursion takes you up the north side, the likelihood is that from 600 metres above sea level you will be engulfed by dense fog. You will be in the belt below the area of direct impact of the moist trade winds that blow in from the north-east, forming a sea of cloud. Here, laurel woods clothe the scenery in a rich green colour, and you will feel a coolness that will make you reach for your coat. Soon, at an altitude of 1,000 metres, the laurel woods give way to dense, humid pine forests, that extend up to 2,000 metres. But if your ascent takes you up the south side, where the sea of cloud struggles to form, you’ll be in the pine forest from an altitude of 600 metres.
When you reach the high mountain area, you will see the sea of cloud at your feet, and you will feel as if you are flying above it. The flora of Las Cañadas comprises broom, laburnum and a vast array of other plants, most of them endemic to these peaks. Here, the extreme climate, with significant fluctuations between summer and winter, and even between day and night, determines the pattern of life. Scrub clothes the slopes of the Las Cañadas cirque, and those of Mount Teide itself. But as you make your way towards the peak, it gradually disappears... Only the beautiful Teide violet survives at 3,000 metres on the volcano.
And throughout your trip to Mount Teide, you will see the volcanoes that formed Tenerife, some as old as the island itself, and others more recent.
Furthermore, since (optional) cable car tickets to go up Mount Teide are already included, you don’t have to worry about missing the chance to book your seat. We have thought of everything so that you can enjoy your Mount Teide Tour without worrying about a thing!
Enjoy spectacular views of Tenerife and some of the neighbouring islands on this excursion to ascend Mount Teide
Our Teide Tour includes tickets for the ascent and descent with a digital audio guide of the trails (optional) to take you up to an altitude of 3,555 metres so that you can enjoy stunning views of Tenerife and some of the neighbouring islands, whilst at the same time seeing one of the world’s most extraordinary volcanic landscapes. On Las Cañadas, you will see different types of lava and volcanic rock formations, beginning with Mount Teide itself, a stratovolcano of the Vesuvian type.
Mount Teide was formed gradually, as eruption followed eruption. Each eruption added another level to the volcanic edifice. Mount Teide began as a small volcanic cone at the base of Las Cañadas 150,000 years ago, and reached a height of 3,718 metres 1,000 years ago, when its most recent eruptions occurred; these formed the current peak and the streams of black lava that flow down its slopes. Now Mount Teide is the highest peak in the Atlantic region, the highest peak in Spain, and the third highest volcano on Earth measured from the sea bed, from where it reaches a height of 7,500 metres.
When you reach the cable car upper station, you can choose which views you’d like to enjoy and which audio guide tracks to listen to:
- Admire Siete Cañadas and the Ucanca valley from La Rambleta viewpoint
- Follow the La Fortaleza trail and enjoy spectacular views of northern Tenerife
- Choose the Pico Viejo viewpoint trail and admire views of southern Tenerife with the impressive 800-m-diameter Pico Viejo crater at your feet and, if the weather permits, the islands of La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma on the horizon.

Reviews
Nice experience. little waiting time, nise views!
Wonderfull trip! Highly recommend!
A very good organized tour! Sorry only that there is no pick up every day and from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Excellent tour with a very good guide. Plenty of time to explore at the top of the cable car. My only negative is that the web site and tickets is prominent with COVID practices yet non were followed or enforced
Very nice tour. Easy access to Teide. Good guiding.
We would definitely recommend taking this tour. They handle everything and give you a lot of information. I wish we had more time at the summit but it was still well worth it. Make sure you get your permit to reach the summit well in advance of your climb. (ie 1 or 2 months). We had a screen shot of ours on the mobile phone. Good coffee at the cable car.
A great tour, with a knowledgable multilingual guide. You could do this independently but probably quite confusing unless you speak Spanish. The view at the top was amazing despite being overcast at the coast. If you forget warm things you can buy a fleece at the shop, but it’s very chilly at 3,500 meters. Sunglasses, sunscreen & camera essential. If you’re not walking to the peak, trainers or sport sandals are fine, but the paths are rocky & uneven & some clambering for various viewpoints on the way. The teenaged kids really enjoyed this tour, despite the long bus ride to the cable car.
Great trip good length great guide wonderful views
The guide was really interesting, though the tour was a bit short, he made sure that we could see as much as we could ! Shout out to the driver too who had a very smooth drinving in those narrow mountain roads.
Very exiting sight
The tour was very comfortable, and the guide provided excellent knowledge of interesting aspects of the tour, and allowed for very adequate time to enjoy the various stops.
we were picked up promptly but then had to endure an hour of driving around puerto de la cruz stopping at various hotels. I know this is necessary, but it really impacted on my enjoyment /experience. by the time we arrived at the end of the cable car, it was nearly time to turn back round again. I abandoned the tour at this point in order to give myself the opportunity to hike down. I took the local bus back at 1600. the tour would have dropped me back at puerto de la cruz at 1400...after another tour of hotels no doubt. this trip is ok for those who just want a quick taster of teide, but no use to anyone who wants to do any serious hiking. In fairness, it does say half day tour. but having no transport, i thought it was the best option to get to the ( nearly ) top. i found out later that the local bus would have got me there at 1045. that is the way for me next time...or i will hire a car.
Really great excursion, we had a fantastic time. Our pick-up was perfect and our guide brilliant. A pity that time at the upper station is limited to one hour as we found it a struggle to get back on time, after walking a bit too far down Route 9 and also stopping to listen, breathe, enjoy, photograph too much. Next time I’d like to visit the peak - we couldn’t get the permit this time :-( as we booked at short-notice.
nice
Overall, a good trip and an informative guide.
For someone that would like see different environments in short time it will be a great experience.

Bad experience, we dident able to use cable car and we dident get back our mony.
Very well-organized visit. The bus was punctual, and the information given during the excursion was very useful. Unfortunately, we could not use the cable due to the weather conditions, but the organizers have already prepared a plan B that we could enjoy. We received the money for the cable automatically and in an uncomplicated way.
Excellent
Would recommend
So interesting and informative.*** ,the tour guide is a source of information and you can see that she loves her job, throughly recommend this trip
Despite the fact that the cable car was not working due to extreme weather conditions, our tour guide ***made the most out of the situation. We had a great hike around the south part of the Teide with lots of information from her side. We made several stops that allowed us to take in the scenery, take photos and listen to ***captivating stories about the island, the volcano, the vegetation and so on. All in all, a great experience!
Everything was very well organised, the guide was nice, helpful and receptive and provided us with plenty of information. An unforgettable experience!
Very interesting and informative
Loved the excursion to the volcano. ***was a very knowledgeable tour guide. The cable car was lots of fun, and the views were spectacular. It gets cold up there, even in the sun, so bring warm clothes!
Great experience!
Great day out to Teide, well deserved 5*
Very knowledgeable staff, the driver drove very well. the tour guide was really up to the task, very engaging, you could see that he really liked the job he was doing. experience to try again absolutely !!!!!
Excellent experience; I would thoroughly recommend the tour.
nice trip, great view
We had an excellent guide . She explain everything in a very good way . I have learned about the Teide and the vulcano and the island
Very nice experience
Guide was absolutely brilliant, very friendly very informative and the whole tour was well organised and well paced. Would highly recommend.
Straightforward to book online. Excellent guides covering 4 languages. Great stop on the way back.
The excursion was all in all good. I would have liked to have spent more time in the Teide valley (the Caldera) however, which I found even more spectacular than the actual Teide climbing by cable car itself. Maybe a few more stops there could be added to the excursion.
Easy coach pickup. Very informative guide. Wonderful views and a great trip up the mountain and through the national park
Good tour! Would recommend
Great trip, both guide and driver were excelent.
There were Not many Locations to see
The tour was very good overall. *** as a guide was very engaged and attentive to the participants. The tour was very well planned with a proper number of stops, so we could adjust to the elevation gradually. The guide also shared as much information as she could. In this particular tour, we were not lucky with the weather and the cable car was not operating on that day. I do not add negative points to this review because of that, as it is clearly "***", but what raised a concern was that while on *** webpage the update on the cable car operation was already available at the time of boarding, the guide shared that with the participants only half way through the morning part of the tour. And while I enjoyed 360 views on *** and the possibility to visit larger part of the natural park, I would not trust the agency to book another tour to reach the top to avoid the practice of postponing unpleasant information on the next tour. The other thing that I did not particularly enjoy was a late pick up with no notice - after 40 minutes of waiting while all the other tours were departing from the pick-up spot, I almost thought I was missed by error.
We didn't want to go on the cable car so the fact it wasn't running meant we went to the botanical gardens instead which was very interesting.
I booked a trip that included the cable car. It was not until I had been on the bus for an hour, and half way up the mountain that I was told that the cable car was not working and would not be going on it. I should have been told before I started my journey that the cable car was not running and I could have not got the bus, cancelled my visit and saved wasting seven hours of my day. Basically I wasted my time visiting overcrowded car parks (all with the same view) or tavernas that I did not want to visit. To sum up then: a complete waste of seven hours of my valuable time that I wont get back, please in future tell your customers that the cable car is not running before they get on the bus then they can decide whether or not to go. The guide was very good and knowledge and was very enthusiastic and very friendly. He did the very best of a bad situation.
The bus was 35 minutes late to pick us up in the morning. The journey was said to be 1 hour 30 mins to Teide national park but we arrived at the location nearly 3 hours after original pick up time. Guide only bothered with people going on the cable car and we seemed to be an after thought, putting our family on the same bus, being the only ones on the trip not doing the cable car. Guide was abrupt with customers and wouldn't recommend
Well organised and knowledgeable guide
The experience was well worth it as was our guide. The fact that there was no alert that they would be nearly an hour late to the pick up point was very diappointing. There was also no phone number to ring to find out what was happening
Cable car not running due to windy conditions. Didn’t feel like we had value for money for the rest of the tour . Was a bit rushed and we were back at our hotel very quickly
If you are happy not to take the cable car this is an brilliant trip.
This was a great tour if you want to see the Volcano. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate for the cable car, but we were refunded. Even without the cable car, it is well worth being brought to the best views and provided with information about the areas. Taking the tour is so much easier than having to find parking.
Cable car not in service
We would definitely recommend this tour! We learned so much about Tenerife and Teide’s history. It was a nice break from the beaches. We saw some amazing views from the bus and made several stops where we were able to explore and take photos. Great tour.
Great trip
Highly recommended.
