Reviews of “Sunset and Stars” in Tenerife
Both getting to the top of Teide volcano and seeing the amazing starry sky were fantastic experiences. Certainly in my top 10 ever.
It was a wonderful experience with a very good guide, witty and easy to listen to.
Professional and dynamic bus driver, enthusiastic tour guide very familiar with volcanos in general, the Teide itself, geology and astronomy, unique cable car experience above the clouds, excellent photo and view points on the top, an informative short hike up on the volcano, breathtaking sunset with mesmerising colours, a picnic dinner and the stargazing at one of the world's best observation points with world-class telescopes and exciting commentary by the tour guide. It was worth every single cent it cost, and I highly recommend it.
Enjoyable. Path to look out was very rocky, which wasn't explained. This made it very difficult for many to make it to the end of the path. Dinner was actually appetizers, and cocktails were wine and beer. A lot of idle time waiting to be "herded" into groups. Driver, guide, and overall program were, however, good.
The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. I'm glad that there was the option for a hotel pick up as I was a lone traveller and hadn't hired a car. Christian was very lovely and informative as he shared some local history and we stopped off to see how a certain rock formation was made as we were driving up Mount Teide. My only negative feedback was the driving up and down the mountain made me feel very car sick, and I wasn't the only one. Unfortunately it can't be helped as the roads are very windy. Rudi was a great guide and very informative as we went up the cable car and onto a short hike to watch the sunset. That was such a beautiful sight; the landscape was breath taking. Afterwards the buffet dinner served the right amount of food to go round and with enough variety too. It was great to sample the Canarian foods. I can't remember the name of the guide who took the English speaking group, but it was fascinating to hear him talk about the constellations and the night sky; his passion really shone through his speeches. I was most impressed and having never looked through a telescope before, I was absolutely stunned by the beauty of the moon, Jupiter and Saturn. Thank you so much for organising this tour,- it was well thought out and interactive and everyone is so knowledgable and friendly. I would definitely recommend this to any one looking for something special and different to do in Tenerife.
Expensive when you are at the South of the Island. It was twice the money people from the north pay!
Excellent from booking to trip itself
We were picked up on time and had 3 stops on the way which were incredible. Our bus guide, *** was really friendly and knowledgeable and was able to care for us and answer and questions. The driver *** was very calm and drove beautifully throughout the amazing landscape. It was like the warm up before the main event.
Had a great experience and would definitely recommend this trip and company
Absolutely an experience to do
Well educated guide's, nice
+tour guide +dinner +sunset view - cheap telescope
Not enough info and the dinner was very basic
Fantastic experience - a highly recommended adventure on Tenerife!
Great experience, stunning views, star gazing fantastic and food (maybe this is the height :-D) delicious!
It's really not worth it. Packed type cold lunch. They won't tell you just on the bus that the cable car isn't working and you won't go up to the top. That is the main reason most people go. Obviously if they had informed us previous day we would have cancelled. They know that. 5 people left the bus immediately. No refund. Only the cable car ticket gets refunded. The rest of the tour is boring and long. Over 8 hours!!! With one cold packed lunch provided. Never again. I just will hire a car and sort our my ticket. Way overpriced. I don't recommend this tour
The concept works well and the management and support from the guides was excellent. At first I thought it was an expensive excursion, but afterwards I now regard it as good value and worth the cost. In particular the dinner was far better than I expected and an enjoyable tasting of numerous Canarian dishes. My wife had dietary restrictions and her requirements were perfectly understood by the chefs and waiters. Several dishes were changed or adapted for her needs and as a result the dinner was very enjoyable. Thank you so much for taking the time to consider her needs and making the effort to provide a superb dinner. Best regards, ***
A very enjoyable trip. Lovely food. Fantastic and knowledgeable guide. Stargazing was informative.
Amazing experience.
Great experience that was enjoyed by everyone in our party. We did have very good (if cold) weather which obviously helped. The tour leaders and star gazing experts were excellent.
Really enjoyed it but unfortunately my husband tripped over a rock during the stargazing and broke his ankle. It might be better it the gravelly area with the rocks in was roped off during the stargazing activity to prevent this happening to someone else.
The bus for the transportation from the south to Teide was in poor condition. Passenger airconditioning and passenger lights did not work. The guide in the bus was rude and we did not feel welcomed. The microphone on the bus was also in such a bad condition we could barely hear what the guide was telling us. This was a shame, since we wanted to know more about Teide. The guide telling about the stars on site was really nice and views were good, but the two hours ride there and another two hours back with the bad bus and rude guide ruined the experience from us. The tapas food was OK but nothing special and definitely not something you would expect from a 2-Michelin star cook, as advertised. The walk on Teide at night fall is nice, but the guide services, poor bus transportation and average tapas was not worth the money we paid (***€ per person).
We enjoyed the tour. The view from Teide was amazing. The guides are quite knowledgeable. The dinner was great. It gave a good sampling of local dishes and wines. The stargazing was impressive, again the guides passion and knowledge was impressive.

Enjoy our guided Mount Teide by night excursion which offers you a sunset view followed by a stargazing experience in Tenerife
You don’t need a car to visit Mount Teide by night. On this Sunset and Stars Teide Tour with astronomical observation you will ascend comfortably to 3,555 m and enjoy both the spectacle of Teide’s shadow cast towards the horizon over the island of Gran Canaria, as well as Spain’s highest sunset from the trail to the Pico Viejo viewpoint, with this volcano’s impressive 800-m-diameter crater at your feet and views over some of the neighbouring islands, such as La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma, if the weather permits.
On this Sunset and Stars - Mount Teide Sunset Tour you won’t stop sharing on your social networks the photographs of what would probably be one of the best sunsets you have ever seen!
With the assistance of our guides, you will discover all of the volcanic wonders that surround the impressive trail to the Pico Viejo viewpoint. The trail and the surrounding scenery acquire a truly remarkable array of colours at sunset, which are unforgettable to visitors. Because sunset is when you can best read the open book of the geological history of this volcanic island, formed by very many volcanic episodes over time. That explains why Mount Teide is a stratovolcano, which was built up by various eruptions over hundreds of thousands of years.
The evening light brings out the shapes, textures and colours of the black rivers of lava that flowed down from the crater, so that you can better appreciate the accretionary lava balls and the high-walled lava channels. The trail begins on La Corbata, a whitish rock formation, and continues westwards with the amphitheatre of the Las Cañadas cirque a constant backdrop to this astounding landscape. At the end lies the remarkable crater of Pico Viejo, another immense volcano that crowns the Abeque ridge, a barren ‘malpaís’ strewn with recent lava fields and volcanic cones, many of them historic; the most notable of these is the Chinyero volcano, the site of Tenerife’s most recent eruption in 1909. In the distance rises the Teno massif, which is much older than either Las Cañadas or Mount Teide, and out on the ocean, the islands of La Palma and La Gomera can be seen, with El Hierro further back on the horizon.
After the sunset and just before starting your Mount Teide stargazing experience, you will have time to enjoy a dinner of your choice.
Look up to the sky and enjoy Mount Teide stargazing in one of the best starry skies in the world
When you think it’s not possible to feel more excited, you will be astounded by the spectacle of the sky over Mount Teide which you will behold from the Teide cable car base station’s car park. But you will be prepared! During the astronomical observation included in this guided Sunset and Stars - Mount Teide by Night Tour, our Starlight guides will unravel for you the mysteries of the sky over Mt Teide, one of the three best skies on the planet, along with Chile and Hawaii, where it is possible to see 83 out of the 88 officially recognised constellations.
Observe this spectacle on Mount Teide stargazing with the unaided eye and using our professional telescopes, learn how to guide yourself thanks to the sky and enjoy discerning the elements of Greek mythology, which are hidden behind the constellations.
Thanks to our professional state-of-the-art telescopes, which you will have at your disposal during the astronomical observation on this Teide Sunset Tour, you will discover planets, galaxies and clusters as you have surely never seen before, and you will go through the most interesting celestial objects of every night. You can be sure that the professional astronomical instrumentation, along with the quality and transparency of the sky over Mt Teide, will give you a unique Mount Teide stargazing experience.
Mount Teide Stargazing Tour: astronomical observation on a full moon night
As you already know, the moon passes through different phases during its 29-day cycle, that is to say, lunation. Therefore, at least once a month, its potent glow will dim the faint light of the distant stars. If you take your Mount Teide Stars Tour on the night of the full moon, you will take advantage of its radiant appearance and be delighted with its splendour: mountain ranges, craters and other lunar wonders.
If you haven’t known that you can find the Montes Teneriffe, Mons Pico and the crater Piazzi Smyth on the Moon, ask our Mount Teide Stargazing Tour guides where they are located and why they have these names.
