Description

Behold the Teide National Park and its colours at sunset on our guided Teide night tour which offers you the opportunity to enjoy a Mount Teide stargazing experience. Feel the excitement of watching the Teide sunset from the highest peak in Spain with the cable car at sunset and observe the Tenerife stars under one of the top-quality starry skies in the world.

Enjoy our guided Teide night tour which offers you a sunset view followed by a stargazing experience in Tenerife

You don’t need a car to visit Mt Teide by night. Our Sunset Tour excursion with astronomical observation includes transport for small groups, so that you can spend more time enjoying the tour and the en-route stops in the company of a guide on your way to the Teide Cable Car in order to ascend comfortably to 3,555 m and enjoy both the spectacle of Teide’s shadow cast towards the horizon, as well as Spain’s highest sunset from the trail to the Pico Viejo viewpoint, with this volcano’s impressive 800-m-diameter crater at your feet and views over some of the neighbouring islands, such as La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma, if the weather permits.

Mount Teide is one of the best places to observe the formation and evolution of the shadow of a mountain. Thanks to the height of the volcano and due to the fact that the views from its summit extend to all horizons it is possible to behold the spectacle of Teide’s shadow cast towards the island of Gran Canaria. It’s one of the most beautiful and spectacular moments that the volcano offers its visitors right before the most stunning Teide sunset!

You won’t stop sharing on your social networks the photographs of what would probably be one of the best sunsets you have ever seen!

Guided Teide night tour

Enjoy Mount Teide by night with a Tenerife sunset which you’ll fall madly in love with

This guided night tour to Mount Teide includes a guided walk along the spectacular trail to the Pico Viejo viewpoint, which is a marvel in itself!

From the trail to the Pico Viejo viewpoint which you will walk during your Teide by night excursion, you will have the opportunity to see, in the distance, part of the lava poured during the eruptive process that took place on Mount Teide in 1798 and lasted three months—a historical eruption that formed the “Teide’s Nostrils” or “Las Narices del Teide”, the craters located on the western slopes of Pico Viejo which spewed out lava during the last volcanic eruption that occurred inside the confines of the Teide National Park and the one that lasted longest - 99 days!

With the assistance of our guides who will accompany you on this Teide by night excursion, you will discover all of the volcanic wonders that surround this impressive trail to the Pico Viejo viewpoint. The trail and the surrounding scenery acquire a truly remarkable array of colours at sunset, a memory which will stay with you on your journey home. At the end of the trail to the Pico Viejo viewpoint, if the weather permits, you will experience a unique view: the islands of La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma on the horizon, and the impressive Pico Viejo crater—which is 800 m in diameter and at one time, hosted an impressive lava lake—at your feet.

After the sunset and just before starting your Mount Teide stargazing experience, you will have some free time to eat. You can use the services of the Cable Car base station’s café.

Look up to the sky and enjoy the Tenerife stars in one of the best starry skies in the world

When you think it’s not possible to feel more excited, you will be astounded by the spectacle of the sky over Mount Teide which you will behold from the Teide cable car base station's car park. But you will be prepared! During the astronomical observation included in this guided night tour to Mount Teide our Starlight guides will unravel for you the mysteries of the sky over Mt Teide, one of the three best skies on the planet, along with Chile and Hawaii, where it is possible to see 83 out of the 88 officially recognised constellations.

Observe the spectacle with the unaided eye and using our professional telescopes, learn how to guide yourself thanks to the sky and enjoy discerning the elements of Greek mythology, which are hidden behind the constellations.

Teide by night excursion with transport

Thanks to our professional state-of-the-art telescopes, which you will have at your disposal during the astronomical observation on this Teide night tour you will discover planets, galaxies and clusters as you have surely never seen before, and you will go through the most interesting celestial objects of every night. You can be sure that the professional astronomical instrumentation , along with the quality and transparency of the sky over Mt Teide, will give you a unique Mount Teide stargazing experience.

Mount Teide by night excursion: astronomical observation on a full moon night

As you already know, the moon passes through different phases during its 29-day cycle, that is to say, lunation. Therefore, at least once a month, its potent glow will dim the faint light of the distant stars. If you take your Teide by night excursion on the night of the full moon, you will take advantage of its radiant appearance and be delighted with its splendour: mountain ranges, craters and other lunar wonders.

If you haven’t known that you can find the Montes Teneriffe, Mons Pico and the crater Piazzi Smyth on the Moon, ask our guides where they are located and why they have these names.

Live the Cable Car at Sunset experience only, without extras

Would you like to ascend by Cable Car outside the usual hours of operation and with a guide to behold the sunset from an altitude of 3,555 m, but you don’t need transportation and you’re not interested in carrying out astronomical observations? No problem! Just select the product Cable Car at Sunset. Enjoy this experience in the company of a maximum of 90 other participants, divided into different language groups. Prepare to be astounded by the show of Teide’s shadow cast onto the sea and take in the sunset from the Pico Viejo viewpoint, with the islands of La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro on the horizon, to bid farewell to the day from the heights.

  • Due to the elevated luminosity, wear sunglasses.
  • Take plenty of water on hikes.

How to dress to go up Mt Teide

  • Children under 8 are not allowed to participate in this Teide night tour.
  • Since this Teide by night excursion includes a cable car ride, people with heart problems and pregnant women are not allowed to participate in it due to the risk that high altitude poses to their health.
  • People with health problems should consult with their doctors before taking this Teide night tour.
  • This complete tour designed to enjoy Mount Teide by night includes a 40-minute walk both ways of medium-low difficulty, therefore you must be in good physical shape.
  • If the trail to the Pico Viejo viewpoint is closed due to ice or snow on the day of your Teide night tour, you can skip the walk to Pico Viejo and still enjoy the beautiful Teide sunset from La Rambleta.
  • If the weather conditions prevent or hinder proper visibility of the sky on the day of your Teide by night excursion, our guides will use audiovisual equipment to give a virtual tour of the night sky, the constellations and prominent objects.
  • People with physical disabilities should refrain from ascending and descending by cable car. Currently, it is necessary to walk up some stairs without ramps in order to access the cabins. Even if you are able to walk up the stairs with some help, it is important to take into account that in the event that the cable car stops operating due to unexpected technical reasons, people with physical disabilities who find themselves at the upper station will have to descend following steep mountain paths, which would pose a risk to their physical integrity.

An unforgettable experience with great professionals

We have been in great company, our guide Cristian told us about the history of the island while our driver, Sebastian, took us to the most wonderful places. They are both great professionals and we are very grateful for all the knowledge and treatment we have received. Congratulations!

Amazing way to end a day from the top of a volcano

Seeing the sunset in a place near to the Teide's peak is one of the most amazing experiences you can live here. We had good luck because the visibility was incredible, so we saw more islands from the top, like La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro. Im from Tenerife, this was the second time I booked for this experience. And I would do it again, and again. 100% recommended.
