Since our activities to watch the sunset from Mount Teide with Cable Car finish at a time that does not allow you to reach the Altavista Refuge before it closes at 10.00pm, it is not possible to combine our activities at sunset (or our stargazing activities) with a stay in the Altavista Refuge on the day of the activity.

 

However, you can stay at the Parador de Las Cañadas del Teide hotel on the day of the activity, although you will need to make a reservation at the Parador hotel yourself.

 

Yes. You can park your vehicle for free in the parking area of the Teide Cable Car while you enjoy the activity.

No. The Altavista Refuge does not have showers, only toilets.

Spending a night in the Altavista Refuge allows you to access the crater between 6am and 9am on the morning after your stay.

It depends on each person’s walking pace, but on average, it takes between 4 and 5,5 hours.

 

No. We only have vending machines with non-perishable food such as snacks, and hot and cold drinks. If you wish, you can bring your own food and heat it up in the kitchen, which is fully equipped.

Sunset and stars on Teide

The Cable Car at Sunset activity lasts 1,5 to 2 hours. The cocktail dinner designed by Erlantz Gorostiza, a 2-Michelin starred chef, lasts 1 hour. During the astronomical observation you will enjoy stargazing for approx. 50 minutes.

Please bear in mind that if you choose the option Sunset and Stars on Teide with pick-up, you will have to add the duration of the journey.

Is it not possible to combine this activity with a stay in the Altavista Refuge on the same day, since the Sunset and Stars activity finishes too late to allow you to reach the refuge before it closes at 10pm.

You should arrive at the TO’s gate outside the observatory 20 minutes before the scheduled time of the visit.

Since the guide will meet with the participants to grant them access to the facilities, please do not touch the doorbell.

The entrance to the observatory is approx. 2 km away from the access gate, so that you will drive onto the premises in your own car, and the guide will indicate where to park it.

We will see the inside of a nocturnal telescope, but the inside of solar telescopes cannot be seen as the work of the scientists would be interrupted.

The guide will set up a portable solar telescope outside to observe the Sun.

You will need to contact our offices (+34 922 010 444) to book another date, since you cannot interrupt a visit once it has started nor enter the facilities without being accompanied by a guide.

Yes it is, since you will have to drive almost 2 km from the access gate to the starting point, once the group is complete, so you cannot arrive by public transport.

Teide Cable Car

The time slot for descent cannot be booked. The only thing you need to do is get in the queue at the upper station to descend in order of arrival.

If you are only going to buy a cable car descent ticket, we also recommend that you make the reservation online in order to avoid making the payment at the upper station, thus slowing down the queue.

Remember that changes of tickets purchased at the ticket office are to be made at the ticket office as well within 30 days.

No. You only need a permit to be able to reach the summit. You can either apply for it in advance on the National park’s website or obtain it by booking any of our hiking activities.

Teide Cable Car only closes on the 25th December.

Any other closure of its facilities is due to reasons beyond our control and it is announced on our main page as far in advance as possible.

Ideally, about 30 minutes before the time your permit begins. If there are no places available in these time slots, we recommend that you book the previous time slot closest to the start time of your permit.

For area conservation reasons, the Teide National Park restricts the time to 1 hour. Also, staying at such an altitude for more than one hour increases the risk of suffering from altitude sickness.

If you have a permit to access the peak of Teide, you can stay longer at the summit, without exceeding the 2 hours you’re allowed to spend in this area.

Yes. By signing up for our activity to behold the sunset on Mount Teide with Cable Car, you can use our free parking service during the activity.
