Restrictions
- Children under 14, pregnant women and people with heart problems are not allowed to participate in this exclusive activity to walk up to the Teide crater via Montaña Blanca due to the risk that high altitude poses to their health.
- The ascent to the peak on foot is not recommended for people with reduced mobility or injuries.
- People with health problems should consult with their doctors before undertaking this excursion.
- People with diverse physical or motor functionality are not permitted to make the ascent by cable car because, due to the technical conditions that exist in the National Park, it cannot be guaranteed that they can be safely evacuated in the time allowed by the regulations.
- In order to be allowed to access the trail to the peak you must wear closed mountain hiking footwear. Anyone not wearing this type of footwear will be denied entry to the trail.
- It is essential to bear in mind that in the event of the failure of the cable car system due to unexpected technical reasons, passengers already at the upper station will have to make their descent on foot and using steep mountain paths.
- No pets allowed, apart from guide dogs and therapy dogs.
- In the event that the trails are closed due to ice or snow, you will be allowed access, accompanied by your guide, on the strict condition that you have with you the requisite equipment: technical clothing, crampons and ice axes.
- We reserve the right to refuse admission. For more information, please check the rules for accessing the cable car.
Important information
- *Please be aware that the reservation of this activity will be pending confirmation until we have issued named access passes to the crater for each person participating in this exclusive ascent to the Peak of Mount Teide on foot.
- In the event that we are unable to confirm the activity, we will offer you an alternative date or a refund of the amount paid.
- Moreover, due to the way the National Park’s permit issuing system works, if you book this activity, once confirmed by us, you won’t be able to cancel it under any circumstances.
- A minimum reservation for 2 people is required.
- It is necessary to present your ID or passport at the point of access to the trail leading to the crater.
- In the event that the path to the peak is closed, Teide National Park staff may permit access only to mountaineers belonging to a federation who can provide sufficient proof of their ability, and who are appropriately equipped (with mountain-climbing equipment—in particular boots, crampons and an ice-axe). It is the individual’s responsibility to ensure that they possess the appropriate documentation and equipment, therefore the absence of either exempts Volcano Teide from any liability.
- The ascent to the peak involves a hike of approximately six hours (ascent and descent), and is is rated as high difficulty. Therefore, visitors need a good level of fitness. If the guide decides that you do not have the required level of fitness, in the interests of your safety, they can ask you to abandon the trail or the activity.
- If you book the activity without transport, once your activity has finished you should go from the cable car base station to the car park where your vehicle is parked. You can either walk there or take Titsa bus 348; bus timetables can be viewed here.

Description
Achieve your dream of walking up Teide via the Montaña Blanca together at least once in your life
Have you and your friends, your partner and you or your family dreamt of hiking up to the summit of Mt. Teide from Montaña Blanca for a while?
And if we were to tell you that you can not only make your dream a reality but also do it privately, accompanied by your own private guide and without worrying about processing the permit to access the crater* because we do it all for you?
This is VIP hiking to the peak of Teide, an activity where you can test your ambition to succeed on this fantastic volcanic route with the ultimate goal being the highest summit in Spain, standing at an altitude of 3,718 m and boasting impressive views of Tenerife and the neighbouring islands on the horizon.
The best trails on Teide privately for hiking enthusiasts
Your guided climb to Teide summit with your own private guide begins at Montaña Blanca at 2,320 m.
This spectacular trail of high difficulty coincides with the historic climbing path of Mount Teide.
You should also know that on the Montaña Blanca trail, one of great volcanic, ecological and scenic interest, you’ll observe how the vegetation changes as the altitude increases.
What can you expect from this route to the Teide crater?
- You’ll begin the route on paths of pumice stone and lava; a low gradient ascending walk that lasts an hour and a half.
- The path narrows and a there’s a slight incline before you reach the Altavista Refuge at 3,260 m.
- There you will take a rest to eat and let your bodies adapt to the pressure and climate.
- You will continue on paths of solidified lava until you reach the Teide Cable Car station (3,550 m).
- You will behold some spectacular views of the Teide National Park and the island of Tenerife from the cable car upper station.
The climax of your epic ascent on foot to the peak of Teide with your own private guide is the final stretch to the Teide crater.
The ascent will be much harder but the reward will be worth it.
After the final effort you’ll enjoy time to relax and take in the magnificent panoramic views of the Canary Archipelago from an altitude of 3,718 m.
With a rucksack full of new and exciting feelings, you’ll then begin the descent on foot to the upper station of the cable car in order to board the cable car for a quick and comfortable ride back to the base station.
And that’s it! You’ll have experienced the adventure that you’ve always dreamed of living, and you’ll have done it by yourselves, accompanied by nobody else than your own private guide.
Live the Teide Legend at the Teide “Science and Legend” exhibition!
VIP ascent to the Peak on foot includes free admission to the “Science and Legend” exhibition which you will find at the Teide Cable Car Visitors’ Centre.

You will learn about Mount Teide’s last major eruption (around 1,000 years ago) which the indigenous Guanches probably interpreted as a fight between mythological deities—an explanation far removed from that which science now attributes to volcanic eruptions.
The characters of the legend of Guayota, both gods and humans, will show you their vision of the stages of the eruption that took place back then, and which formed the pylon at the summit of Mount Teide, known locally as “el tapón del Teide” [the Teide cap]. A magical story in which good and evil join in an epic battle. Along with the legend, you will be shown reliable data to illustrate the scientific interpretation of the eruption. Although the two perspectives may seem diametrically opposed, they are in fact closely connected.
In addition, you can have a great time at our Visitors’ Centre, where you can find brilliant mementoes of your visit to the legend of the Teide National Park at our official souvenir shop. And you can relax and enjoy a culinary experience with panoramic views of the National Park in Spain’s highest restaurant and snack bar, whose badge of identity is the distinctly Canary Island character of its food and drink.
